Good migration policy needs more than good evidence. It needs the people who make policy, the people who deliver services and the people who use them working on the problem together. That is what our policy laboratories are for.
How a policy lab works
Each lab starts with a specific, practical problem. We scope it with partners, bring the right mix of policymakers, practitioners and people with lived experience of migration into the room, and work towards tools and approaches that services can actually adopt. Findings from our research and the expertise of our Lived Experience Panel feed into every stage.
What labs have produced
Policy lab outputs are in use today: financial health checks, service maps and migrant-led intercultural training have been adopted by advice services, including Citizens Advice Scotland.
