Our Migrant Lived Experience (LEx) Panel is central to how we work. Panel members are colleagues, not case studies: they co-design projects, carry out peer research and advise on our work across the full range of what we do. It is an approach that goes beyond standard consultation, and it produces better evidence and better policy.

The current panel – our second – runs from March 2025 to September 2026, building on the first panel we convened in 2022. Members bring professional backgrounds across legal casework, community development, advice and support, research and communications, and are diverse in immigration status, ethnicity, gender, religion and country of origin.

What the panel has done

  • Peer research that directly shaped the tender and service design of Scotland’s Migration Service
  • Migrant perspectives brought into the consultation for the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan 2026-2031
  • Co-developed migrant-led intercultural communication training for mainstream service providers, piloted in spring 2026
  • Contributions to UN working group submissions and advisory roles on major projects

Joining the panel

We recruit to the panel in rounds rather than on a rolling basis. Recruitment is announced through our monthly newsletter – subscribing is the best way to hear when the next round opens.
